The Scots Music Group (SMG) is recruiting a new post of Volunteer Co-ordinator who will be responsible for establishing effective systems to manage and support the volunteers who perform the administration function for the organisation, ensuring the smooth running of the SMG office. They are looking for someone who is a good communicator with strong IT skills, experience of working in an administration capacity and the ability to manage volunteers.

The post is at a fixed fee of £3500. The new worker will join a small team in a busy SMG office and support the running of around 40 weekly classes in the traditional music, song and dance plus their monthly Ceilidhs. The role of Secretary/Office Assistant will be to offer secretarial duties and PA assistance to the Chief Executive and administrative and clerical duties to the NYOS Staff. This is a busy post, working two days a week with a dedicated team to encourage and train young musicians from all over Scotland, providing them with opportunities in orchestral and jazz ensembles of the highest calibre.

The Secretary/Office Assistant will be responsible for incoming telephone calls, incoming and outgoing mail, database and e-mail operation and administration, filing procedures, assisting general mailings and other daily office procedures.

The post holder will be expected to have previous secretarial experience, a confident telephone manner, good communication skills, be efficient and flexible, capable of working to deadlines, show initiative, enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. A background in music would be desirable.

This is a job-share/part-time post; two days per week Monday and Tuesday). Salary £15,000 per annum pro rata. WHALE Arts Agency is a community arts organisation based in the purpose built WHALE Arts Centre in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh. It provides arts activities for over 1,300 children and adults a year that inspire change for people and their community. WHALE is currently seeking an experienced, creative and motivated person to cover the maternity leave of the Manager and Chief Executive. The role encompasses a wide variety of tasks and would suit a candidate experienced in managing mid-size organisations or large scale projects.

The post-holder will manage the WHALE Arts Centre and staff team, overseeing the delivery and ongoing development of a programme of arts activities designed to address community issues in areas of deprivation in the South West of Edinburgh. He/she will work strategically with the voluntary Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic and financial plans. She/he will access funding to support core costs and develop new programmes; and ensure that strategic and funding objectives are met, proving outcomes through effective full project monitoring and evaluation.

Peacock Visual Arts is looking for an artist to lead their young curators programme, Curator Kulture. Six days of artistic experimentation, creation and curatorial creative thinking with a group of young people (aged 10 – 15) in Peacock’s main gallery. They are looking for workshop proposals in any medium which detail how the artist will guide the group in creating and curating work for exhibiting in Peacock’s main gallery space.

Proposals should incorporate dynamic explorations of curatorial practice as well as creative practices that the young people can engage in. Dates: 12–14 & 19–21 Oct 2010 (6 days). The main duties of the post will be to organise Fèis Bharraigh, a week‐long tuition-based festival for children and young people which takes place in July.
