Want more people to take part in your arts or crafts activity?

Then dive into Voluntary Arts Scotland’s Make a Splash! programme

Voluntary Arts Scotland is running a series of free events for voluntary cultural groups to help you attract new and diverse people to participate in your activities. Or, if there’s a gap in your area you’d like to fill, we can help you set up a group specialising in the art or craftform you love. We’re visiting all 32 Local Authority areas across Scotland, so there’s bound to be one near you.

And once you’ve got some great ideas, we can support your group further with a small grants scheme in conjunction with the Scottish Community Foundation.

Then you can Make a Splash! with some cash and try something new, to help even more people discover how good it feels to take part in arts and crafts activity. At the end of your project, we’ll ask you to collect real-life stories about how it went – and about your hopes and plans for the future.

But it doesn’t stop there! We are also looking for groups to take part in ways that will connect to the big screen ‘Live Sites’ being set up for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 and to join us at a final celebration event for the whole programme.

Interested?

Then visit www.peoplemakingwaves.org.uk/makeasplash to:

  • Find details on where and when the free events will take place and to book a place
  • Learn how to apply for the small grants scheme
  • Read how other people have been making a splash in their area
  • Add your own stories about taking part

Or if you’d like to chat to us about the programme, call the Voluntary Arts Scotland office on tel: 0131 225 7355 or email: makeasplash@vascotland.org.uk

Come on in – the water’s lovely!

Co-ordinated by Volunteer Development Scotland, over the next four years People Making Waves will connect the people of Scotland with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Olympic Movement. It will give everyone a chance to share their stories and experiences of 2012, particularly through volunteering and other activities.

Note: some of the Make a Splash! events will be run in conjunction with the Scottish Wave of Change project – which is exploring the potential of people across Scotland through a series of discussion events, using stories, creativity and hope inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic values.
